Marikana Mine Music Day 2006

In August 2006, Marikana Mine hosted a Music Day at the nearby Retief Primary School. The mine assists the school with renovations, maintenance and facility upgrades.

This year members of the school's choir - about 50 students from Grades 6 to 8 - were given the opportunity to participate in a day-long music workshop with experienced music teachers.

Students were taught various vocal repertoires, before enthusiastically engaging in a drumming and dance workshop. Moments captured on the day are featured in the 2007 Aquarius Platinum calendar.
